O presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva viaja nesta segunda-feira ao Rio de Janeiro para formalizar a adesão do estado ao Programa de Pleno Pagamento de Dívidas dos Estados.

A assinatura ocorrerá no Palácio Guanabara com o governador em exercício Ricardo Couto. A autorização foi concedida por Lula em 5 de maio após solicitação feita em dezembro de 2025.

Com a adesão o Rio deixará o Regime de Recuperação Fiscal. A prestação mensal da dívida com a União deve cair de cerca de R$ 490 milhões para aproximadamente R$ 113 milhões.

A dívida total do estado com a União supera R$ 237 bilhões segundo o Tesouro Nacional. O Propag foi articulado pelo ex-presidente do Senado Rodrigo Pacheco.
