Shule nchini Kenya zikumbatia majiko ya umeme na jua

Baadhi ya shule nchini Kenya zimeanza kutumia majiko ya kisasa yanayotumia umeme na nishati ya jua ili kupunguza gharama, kuboresha afya na kulinda mazingira.

Katika Shule ya Al-Huda Muslim iliyoko Majengo, Kaunti ya Kajiado, yenye zaidi ya wanafunzi 820, matumizi ya kuni yaligharimu shule Sh20,000 kila mwezi. Mwalimu Shaaban Iddi alisema moshi uliathiri afya ya wapishi na kusababisha kuchelewa kwa maandalizi ya chakula.

Shule hiyo sasa inatumia majiko ya EcoBora yanayotumia umeme na nishati ya jua. Chakula huiva haraka zaidi na mazingira ya jikoni yamekuwa safi.

PCEA Mama Ngina Primary and Junior Secondary School katika Kaunti ya Kiambu yenye wanafunzi 2,500 ilikuwa ikitumia Sh300,000 kwa muhula kununua kuni. Naibu mwalimu mkuu Rachael Ndune alisema shule sasa inapunguza matumizi ya kuni na kuokoa muda.

EcoBora, kampuni yenye makao yake Nairobi, hutoa mafunzo ya siku tatu hadi saba. Mkurugenzi Joy Kwamboka alisema shule zinaweza kupunguza uzalishaji wa hewa chafu na kuelekeza akiba katika lishe ya wanafunzi.
