Kenianische Schulen setzen auf Elektro- und Solarherde für sauberes Kochen

Mehrere Schulen in Kenia haben damit begonnen, moderne Elektro- und Solarherde zu nutzen, um Kosten zu senken, die Gesundheit zu fördern und die Umwelt zu schützen.

An der Al-Huda Muslim School in Majengo, Kajiado County, die mehr als 820 Schüler zählt, kostete Brennholz zuvor 20.000 Shilling monatlich. Lehrer Shaaban Iddi erklärte, dass der Rauch die Gesundheit des Küchenpersonals beeinträchtigte und zu Verzögerungen bei der Essenszubereitung führte. Die Schule verwendet nun Elektro- und Solarherde von EcoBora. Die Mahlzeiten werden schneller zubereitet und die Küchenumgebung ist sauberer. Die PCEA Mama Ngina Primary and Junior Secondary School in Kiambu County mit 2.500 Schülern gab pro Semester 300.000 Shilling für Brennholz aus. Die stellvertretende Schulleiterin Rachael Ndune sagte, die Schule reduziere nun den Brennholzverbrauch und spare Zeit. EcoBora, ein Unternehmen mit Sitz in Nairobi, bietet drei- bis siebentägige Schulungen an. Direktorin Joy Kwamboka erklärte, dass Schulen so Emissionen senken und Einsparungen in die Ernährung der Schüler umleiten können.
