Ein Richtergremium bestehend aus Chief Justice Shri Chandrashkhar und Justice Gautam Ankhad wies die Argumente der klagenden NGO Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Foundation zurück.

Die NGO hatte behauptet, der Titel Raja Shivaji sei respektlos gegenüber dem Maratha-Kaiser Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj aus dem 17. Jahrhundert, da das Wort Chhatrapati fehle. Das Gericht erklärte, dass die Klage nicht dem öffentlichen Interesse diene und erst zwei Tage vor dem Filmstart eingereicht worden sei, was auf ein spezifisches Motiv hindeute.

Die Entscheidung ermöglicht die Veröffentlichung des Films am 1. Mai 2026 auf Hindi und Marathi. Ritesh Deshmukh führte Regie und produzierte den Film, in dem er Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj darstellt. Genelia D'Souza, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan und Sanjay Dutt spielen zentrale Rollen, während Salman Khan einen Cameo-Auftritt hat.
