Lando Norris secured a dominant victory at the 2025 São Paulo GP, completing a perfect weekend with pole, sprint, and race at Interlagos. The McLaren driver extended his championship lead to 24 points over Oscar Piastri, while Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto retired on the first lap after a collision with Lance Stroll. Max Verstappen recovered to third starting from the pit lane.
The São Paulo GP, held on November 9, 2025, at Interlagos circuit, was dominated by Lando Norris's flawless performance. The British McLaren driver won the sprint on Saturday (8), took pole position, and led the main race from start to finish, earning 33 points over the weekend to reach 390. Before the event, Norris led by just one point over teammate Oscar Piastri (356), but now the gap is 24 points, with the Australian at 366 after scoring only 10 points, including a sprint retirement and a 10-second penalty in the main race, finishing fifth.
Red Bull's Max Verstappen started from the pit lane due to car changes after a Q1 elimination but climbed to third, adding 20 points to reach 341 and closing the gap to Piastri from 35 to 25 points. Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli completed the podium in second. The race saw chaos at the start: Bortoleto, making his home debut for Sauber, collided with Lance Stroll at the Bico de Pato corner, retiring on lap one after hitting the wall. "Stroll pushed me off. He just turned as if I wasn't there", the Brazilian said on the radio, calling it "the worst day of my life". It was his second crash of the weekend, following a sprint impact at 339 km/h with 34G and 57G forces.
Other retirements included Charles Leclerc on lap 7 after indirect contact involving Piastri and Antonelli, and Lewis Hamilton on lap 42, penalized for an early collision. Norris dedicated the win to Gil de Ferran: "This one is for Gil, one of my mentors". With 303,627 attendees, Bortoleto thanked the fans despite the disappointment: "It was a weekend to forget, but I'm grateful to the Brazilians".
