이재명 대통령이 3일 진주에서 남해안에 항공우주 산업벨트를 조성하겠다고 밝혔다. 이는 정부의 반도체·물리 AI·AI 데이터센터 중심 '3대 메가 프로젝트'의 일환이다.
이 대통령은 경남 진주에서 열린 남부권 투자계획 발표 행사에서 "위성·로켓·차세대 항공기와 신우주산업을 포괄하는 남해안 항공우주 산업벨트를 조성하겠다"고 말했다. 그는 영남권의 제조업 기반과 첨단 기술을 결합해 미래 글로벌 시장을 선도하겠다고 강조했다.
이 행사는 정부의 지역 균형 발전 전략에 따라 호남·충청권에 이어 진행된 세 번째 지역 행사였다. 이 대통령은 같은 날 진주에서 국가우주위원회 회의를 주재하며 항공우주 산업을 국가 안보와 경제 성장 동력으로 육성하겠다고 덧붙였다.
정부는 영남권의 반도체·AI 데이터센터·물리 AI 산업에 대규모 투자를 추진할 계획이다. 이 대통령은 해당 지역 항공우주 기업들이 세계적 경쟁력을 갖추도록 적극 지원하겠다고 밝혔다.
