Running coach views AI as support for more people to start running

SVT reporter Jonna Björnbom trained with a free AI service for eight weeks to run 10 kilometers. Running coach Hugo Östby in Ludvika comments on the experiment.

Jonna Björnbom used an AI-generated training plan to go from untrained to running 10 kilometers. She also carried out fitness tests at Högskolan Dalarna before and after the period.

Hugo Östby, a trained personal trainer and running coach for six years, believes the technology can attract more people to running. He describes AI as ”fantastic support if handled correctly”.

According to the American College of Sports Medicine, digital training tools and data-driven training are among the strongest trends in fitness right now. Östby emphasizes, however, that human guidance still plays an important role.
