Brandenburger Tor in EU-Farben zum Europatag beleuchtet

Das Brandenburger Tor in Berlin wurde am Europatag in den Farben der EU-Flagge angestrahlt. Das Wahrzeichen leuchtete am Samstag von Sonnenuntergang bis Mitternacht blau und zeigte die EU-Flagge sowie den Schriftzug «In Vielfalt geeint».

Mit der Beleuchtung feierte Berlin die europäische Einigung. Berlins Regierender Bürgermeister Kai Wegner betonte laut Senatskanzlei: «Mit der Anstrahlung des Brandenburger Tors am Europatag feiern wir die Europäische Einigung».

Der Europatag findet jedes Jahr am 9. Mai statt. Er erinnert an die Erklärung des französischen Außenministers Robert Schuman aus dem Jahr 1950, die zur Gründung der Europäischen Gemeinschaft für Kohle und Stahl führte und den Grundstein für die heutige Europäische Union legte.
