Kwalee Labs schließt Studio nach Veröffentlichung von Luna Abyss

Kwalee Labs wurde nach der Veröffentlichung seines Debütspiels Luna Abyss geschlossen. Das Studio entließ sein gesamtes Team weniger als einen Monat nach dem Start des Titels am 21. Mai.

Die Entscheidung fiel am 15. Juni, als das gesamte Personal entlassen wurde, wie CEO Hollie Emery in einer Erklärung mitteilte. Sie betonte, dass der Schritt außerhalb der Kontrolle des Unternehmens lag.

Luna Abyss, ein atmosphärischer Bullet-Hell-Shooter, erschien zeitgleich auf Steam, Konsolen und im Xbox Game Pass. Das Spiel erhielt positive Resonanz, darunter Lob von Polygon als einer der besten Shooter des Jahres 2026, eine positive Bewertung von 86 Prozent auf Steam sowie einen Metacritic-Score von über 80.

Emery drückte trotz des Ausgangs ihren Stolz auf das Projekt aus. Sie erklärte, dass das Team unmittelbar nach den Entlassungen für neue Aufgaben zur Verfügung stehe.
