El Tribunal Europeo avala el 25% de español en colegios de Cataluña

El Tribunal Europeo de Derechos Humanos ha rechazado una demanda contra la cuota del 25% de castellano en las escuelas catalanas.

El Tribunal de Estrasburgo inadmitió por unanimidad la demanda presentada por padres y la entidad Òmnium Cultural. El fallo señala que la práctica de enseñar exclusivamente en catalán perjudicó a las familias españolas.

Los jueces indicaron que Cataluña es una región bilingüe y que prohibir el español como lengua de instrucción privaría a los ciudadanos de su derecho a recibir educación en la lengua nacional. El tribunal consideró que se logró un equilibrio adecuado entre la unidad del sistema educativo y la diversidad lingüística.

La resolución llega antes de que el Tribunal Constitucional español se pronuncie sobre la ley aprobada en 2022 por ERC, Junts, PSC y Comunes. El Govern catalán ha reiterado su compromiso con el modelo de inmersión en catalán.
