Kenia rät von Reisen in Ebola-Gebiete ab

Die Gesundheitsbehörden Kenias haben ihre Bürger dazu aufgerufen, nicht notwendige Reisen nach Uganda und in die Demokratische Republik Kongo aufgrund der steigenden Ebola-Fallzahlen in diesen Ländern zu verschieben.

Die Staatssekretärin für Gesundheit, Mary Muthoni, gab den Hinweis am 30. Mai bei einer Inspektion des Jomo Kenyatta International Airport heraus. Sie erklärte, dass Kenianer unnötige Reisen in die betroffenen Gebiete vermeiden sollten, bis sich die Lage verbessert hat. Die Demokratische Republik Kongo hat zwischen 900 und 1.077 Verdachtsfälle auf Ebola verzeichnet, darunter 121 bis 134 bestätigte Infektionen. Uganda hat neun Fälle bestätigt, von denen viele mit Reisen aus der DR Kongo in Verbindung stehen. Gesundheitsminister Adan Duale sagte, dass Kenia sein nationales Vorfallmanagementsystem aktiviert und die Überwachung an den Einreisepunkten verstärkt habe. In Kenia wurden bisher keine Ebola-Fälle festgestellt, nachdem 18 Tests negative Ergebnisse geliefert hatten.
