Lunaz introduces gasoline-powered Aston Martin DB6 restomod

Lunaz, a Silverstone-based workshop known for electric conversions, has unveiled a restomodded Aston Martin DB6 featuring a 345 hp gasoline engine instead of electric power. This $1,000,000 vehicle marks a strategic shift for the company, offering clients a choice between internal combustion and zero-emission options. The project represents the 50th completion for Lunaz since its inception.

The Aston Martin DB6 restomod by Lunaz ditches silent electric motors for a hand-built 5.0-liter straight-six engine producing 345 hp, delivering raw gasoline power. Based in Silverstone, the workshop overhauled every mechanical component to ensure the vintage chassis handles increased torque and speed safely. Engineers installed a new gearbox, fuel-injected engine for daily driving reliability, a modern rack steering system for better road feedback, active damping suspension for cornering stability, and a custom exhaust to manage the engine's output.

The project included a total bodywork restoration and a bespoke interior using sustainable materials like cashmere blends and recycled leather. Mother-of-pearl inlays and silver switchgear contrast with the vintage dashboard. The exterior sports a unique metallic green paint finish. Lunaz confirmed this as the first of a limited run of First Edition models, bridging traditional restorations and electric conversions. Each unit demands thousands of hours of labor, starting at a high price point due to the engineering involved.

Previously focused on electric conversions for iconic British vehicles, Lunaz's introduction of gasoline options expands power choices for global clients. The workshop plans to develop both electric and gasoline platforms for the DB6 range and apply this powertrain-agnostic approach to other luxury marques. This flexibility addresses regional regulatory needs and positions Lunaz uniquely in the market. Market data indicates strong demand for classic aesthetics with modern components, fueling investment in restomods. The company anticipates attracting collectors valuing choice over a single fuel source, setting a new benchmark for modern classics.
