7월 8일 서울 주식시장이 기술주 중심의 매도세로 5.4% 하락했다. 코스피 지수는 409.52포인트 떨어진 7,246.79로 마감했다.
코스피는 장 초반 2.7% 하락 출발한 뒤 낙폭을 키웠다. 거래량은 4억9,575만 주에 달했으며, 하락 종목이 763개로 상승 종목 124개를 크게 앞섰다.
삼성전자는 6.25% 떨어진 27만7,500원에 거래를 마쳤고, SK하이닉스는 5.68% 하락한 207만6,000원을 기록했다. 현대자동차와 한화에어로스페이스도 각각 3.55%, 7.22% 떨어졌다.
한국거래소는 오후 1시31분경 코스피에 매도 사이드카를 발동해 프로그램 매매를 5분간 정지시켰다. 원·달러 환율은 달러당 1,498.5원으로 전 거래일 대비 29.7원 상승했다.
