Kepala Kepolisian Resor Kota Pekanbaru, Kombes Polisi Muharman Arta, mengatakan keempat pelaku ditangkap di lokasi berbeda, termasuk Binjai, Sumatera Utara, dan Aceh Tengah. Otak pelaku berinisial AF adalah menantu korban, dibantu SL, E, dan L. "Empat pelaku sudah diamankan," kata Muharman.

Korban ditemukan tertelungkup di area dapur rumahnya di Kecamatan Rumbai pada Rabu, 29 April 2026, dengan luka di wajah. Direktur Reserse Kriminal Umum Polda Riau, Komisaris Besar Polisi Hasyim, menyatakan pelaku awalnya berniat mencuri, tapi rencana berkembang menjadi membunuh empat orang di rumah, termasuk suami dan dua anak korban. "Rencana awal ingin mencuri, tetapi berkembang ingin membunuh empat orang," jelas Hasyim. Saat kejadian, hanya korban yang ada di rumah.
