정부가 6일 광주 군 공항을 반도체 생산 클러스터 부지로 선정했다. 국방부는 이전 계획 세부 사항을 아직 확정하지 못했다고 밝혔다.
대통령실 강훈식 비서실장은 브리핑에서 정부와 삼성전자·SK하이닉스 경영진이 반도체 투자 후속 조치를 논의한 회의에서 선정이 이뤄졌다고 말했다.
삼성전자와 SK하이닉스는 광주·호남 지역에 총 800조 원을 투자하기로 했다. 이 부지는 이미 평탄화된 830만㎡ 규모로 준비 기간을 단축할 수 있다는 점에서 기업들이 제안했다.
국방부는 공군과 협력해 군 대비 태세에 공백이 없도록 하겠다고 밝혔다. 이전 후보지로 선정된 무안군은 국가 차원의 인센티브 등 조건을 요구하며 검토를 요청했다.
대통령은 매달 회의를 열어 프로젝트 진행 상황을 점검할 계획이다.
